You called me yesterday,
After I had showered
And almost gone to bed,
And by the time I realized
How quietly we were whispering,
I smiled,
Looking at my clock
On my nightstand.
I rolled into my back,
Listening to your breathing,
Imagining you being here with me.
"Did you fall asleep?"
I whispered,
A smile spreading wider
Across my face.
"Yes,"
You answered,
"I'm sleep talking."
I laughed a little,
Then went back
To listening to your breathing.
I felt incredibly close to you,
As if I could reach out
And hold you.
You were just beyond this darkness
So that I couldn't see you.
I whispered your name,
And you whispered mine,
And there we were,
Both in our unlit rooms
Just talking.
When we hung up
Well past midnight,
I looked at my phone
And smiled to myself.

First Flight
How frightening that first flight must have been,
hearts racing into the unknown,
and I should wonder how those men felt
at the first takeoff into the air,
gusts of wind beneath fragile wings,
if not for loving you.

Untold Stories- The Unsinkable Ship: Prologue
-6:43 AM, April 10th, 1912- Southampton, England
Nicholas Thatcher woke up extra early today. He gasped, waking up immediately. He sat up in his hotel bed, looking at the clock. Smiling, he got out of bed, careful not to wake Sofia (his sister) who was sleeping next to him. He went bare foot on the wooden floor, past the bed his mom and Amber (his other sister, twin of Sofia) were sleeping in. The 11 year old kneeled in the wooden chair that was pushed up to the high window so he could look out.
Their hotel in Southampton overlooked the White Star Line's Pier. Nick could see it from their floor of the hotel, just barely. In that ocean dock

Flicker II
My eyes flick up as they latch onto you like webs caught in the wind. In an instant I’m hexed, tied up with your whiskey blinks and misty southern breath. I’m breathing shallow, like woodwind with open holes; defective, and empty of melody. I take a drag, and watch as your eyes slip down from my lips and onto my neck, smoothing down to touch my waist as if you were stroking away creases, glitter; last night’s powder. You swipe back up my body and move closer, and with every one-second-step you make I count them like sheep, trying to lull my heart back into a transient flutter. Rule one: They are customers. Their feelings are
