Anna
~-~-~
"Anna, let me see it when you have it on!" Mom calls from outside the dressing room in the mall. I pull on the dress that she helped me pick out, then walk out to show her that it does indeed fit (despite me saying it would. Then again, she doesn't know I'm psychic, so it's forgivable.) "Oh, Anna, you look so pretty!"

I smile, the color in my cheeks rising slightly. "Thanks Mom." I go back and model everything that we picked out which takes longer than actually picking out the clothes. After the fun clothes shopping, where I got a couple new outfits, a warm winter coat, and fuzzy boots, we go school supply shopping, which is less fun.

The Sunday before my first day of school, my parents take me to a local church. I try to scout out for people who could be friendly, but as soon as the minister smiles and holds out his hand to shake, I clam up. "I hope you're not this shy at school tomorrow," Dad says after the sermon. I just muster up a sheepish smile.

That night, I take a shower, take forever trying to decide on a pair of earrings, then spend the last few hours before I go to bed playing Smash Bros with my dad. Coming from a computer, I'm almost guaranteed to be a little bit of a nerd. So sue me.

------
Kill me now. I left my earbuds sitting on my nightstand, so I'm stuck in the middle of the bus trying to warm my frozen fingers and listening to girls gossip and guys' music pouring out of their overpriced headphones. The one behind me is listening to rap. I stare out the window for the ride. When I get to school, I find my locker and put away my coat without making eye contact with anyone. I got to find all of my classes over break (even though I didn't need it), so I know where to go, thankfully. Having to ask directions would've brought unwanted attention to myself.

The beginning of my day is very boring. I'm in a Spanish class with some upperclassmen, and none of them acknowledge me. In second period biology, I'm seated next to a girl with slightly messy black hair. She's bent over a sketchbook, and I can't see what she's drawing from how she's positioned. Not wanting to pry in her mind, I take a deep breath and say, "Hi. Whatcha drawing?" Her pencil stops moving, and she looks over at me, pushing her hair behind her ear. Now I can see it: Yoshi drawn realistically. He looks like a fire-breathing dragon. A skillfuly drawn one, that is. He's surrounded by a few Lumas. "Super Mario Galaxy? That looks awesome."

The girl glances back down at her drawing, then faces me again. "Thanks. Are you new here?"

I nod. "I'm Anna."

"Chyanne." Chyanne takes me in before adding, "Call me Chy. And you know video games?"

"Yeah. Last night I beat my dad in a Smash Bros tournament," I say to prove it. I could've said a million things, but I want to appear normal.

Chy smiles at that. "Who did you use?"

"Lucas." The conversation continues until the teacher walks in at the start of class. Just like in Spanish, this teacher also makes me come up to the front to grab a textbook and a bunch of papers I'll never read or use.

Chy and I have multiple classes together, so by the time lunch rolls around, I'm invited to her table. I expect to see a couple more nerds, but my first impressions are blown away. I get twelve eyes staring at me when I walk up behind Chy. She pulls up a chair for me, and I take a seat on her left. And then come the introductions. "Anna, on your left is Blumiere, then Mimi, N, Lemmy, Dimmy, and BJ. And you already know me."

Wow. What am I wow-ing about? Well, let me just go around the table giving hair and eye color, in that order.

  • Me: Blonde and normal blue.
  • Blumiere: Blue and blue. Like, deep sapphire blue.
  • Mimi: Green and green. In curly pigtails, I might add. Her hair, not eyes.
  • N: Green (Super long!) and then normal blue.
  • Lemmy: Platinum blonde with streaks of blue, pink, and silver, and then normal blue.
  • Dimmy: Half white, half black (also long) and then one eye yellow and one eye purple.
  • BJ: Blood red (long) and blood red.
  • Chy: Black and gray.

Now do you see what I mean? They look like theyall came out on an anime or something.

"Guys," Chy says with a sharp tone directed at me, "this is Anna."

"It's not polite to stare," Dimmy says with a laugh. "But if you must, then you should know that I am Dimentio: Master of Dimensions, Pleaser of Crowds-"

"Shut up!" whines Mimi. "Ignore him," she tells me. "He's an idiot."

"I am not, dear Mimikins," Dimmy says. Quite the nickname there.

"Hey!" she shouts, probably because of the nickname.

All while this is going on, Chy and BJ are whispering about something to each other. I know I shouldn't pry, but-

"You're leaving Anna out," Dimmy whispers to BJ and Chy obnoxiously loudly. "It's rude to exclude!"

Chy turns back to me before I get the chance to even read her mind. "Excuse my older brother. He's a jerk sometimes." Only she didn't say jerk.

After an interesting lunch, I have a class with Chy and Bj, and then my last two with Blumiere: world history and physical education. I hate the last one, since my muscles and lungs are all technically artificial and not made whatsoever for physical activities. But Blumiere seems to be fit enough to succeed. I just stay in the back and try to hide. That is, until we play dodgeball.

Whoever thought boys vs girls is a good idea is stupid. I end up standing on the side trying to wipe the eye smudge off of my glasses after getting slammed in the face. Apparently the no head shots rule only applies to elementary schoolers.

None of the girls are able to even take out one of the guys, so I end up having to do nothing but stand around and figure out how much of today I'm going to tell my parents. The answer evades me even more in the hallway when someone runs into me. I had just pulled my phone out of my bag, so of course it goes flying out of my hand. I hear it land, but there are so many people in one area that I can't find it or the person who ran into me.

"Is this yours?"

I turn to see Blumiere standing there. I can feel my cheeks turn red, but there's nothing I can do but try and reply, then turn to look at the clock because he told me to not be late for my bus. But when I turn around, he's gone just as quickly as he appeared.
Here it is, Cheeaapter two! Ah, high school. I hate it. And Anna's meeting of Chy is roughly based on the actual time we found out we're both Nintendo nerds. XD Though she might've been drawing a star bunny... I do remember it was SMG. And that Yoshi was big in seventh grade biology. Okay I'll shut up now, so hope you enjoy!

Also, should I go back to naming chapters?

I like the Super Smash Bros Brawl I always use Mario because of hi techniques. Mario Galaxy is fun too, but hard to beat. It's smart the way how you included games from Nintendo to get these two talking to each other.
