To my dragon,

While I can’t be by your side

As much as I feel you are by mine,

Your words lift me higher

Than your wings can drop me and fly,

And while I sit here without you,

Coming up with a clever line

That might get your attention again,

You breathe your love like a fire

That never burns out or dies.

You have me caught in your claws

That are both soft and sharp,

And you captivate me with the sound

Of your demon playing the harp.

You only leave me soft fragments

Of your broken glass shards,

And if I step on one while chasing after you,

It only reminds me of your compassionate heart.

Don’t let others get the wrong idea;

You’re not being hurtful or harsh.

I’m the yin to your yang,

Your thousand words to your picture,

Yet if I’m a thousand words,

You’re a thousand pictures,

And I just can’t compare;

I’m only your masochist wisher,

Dreaming of the day

When my words can tell you how I feel,

But until then,

I’ll allow myself some time to heal.
